In addition to her consultancy experience in NSW, Adriana has research background in aquatic ecology.
  • Her undergraduate research focused on understanding the distribution of assemblages of amphipods in coastal lagoon's habitats (e.g., seagrass meadows, sandy substrates). Thesis: Corona A.M. (1998) Pink shrimp Penaeus (F.) duorarum predation effect on epibenthic amphipod abundance in four estuarine habitats, School of Sciences, UNAM.
  • In her masters research, she investigated predator-prey interactions between a prawn and amphipods that inhabit seagrass meadows in a coastal lagoon. Thesis: Corona, A.M. (2001) Prey selectivity by immature stages of the pink shrimp Farfantepenaeus duoraum. School of Science, UNAM.
  • In her doctorate research, she investigated associations of amphipods in rocky intertidal habitats and in relation to habitat complexity and structure. Thesis: Corona, A.M. (2006) Interactions between amphipods and algal habitats on intertidal rocky shores. The University of Sydney.
She was a lecturer at UNAM, where she co-delivered an introduction to marine biology course for undergraduate Biology students. She was also an assistant lecturer co-delivering a course on marine and estuarine ecology for masters students at Institute of Marine and Limnology Sciences (ICMyL).
As part of the benthos ecology laboratory at ICMyL, she was a research assistant for research projects on coastal lagoons, rivers and marine ecosystems. She undertook studies of benthic invertebrates in coastal lagoons and marine environment in the Gulf of Mexico. She described a new species of amphipod from an hydrothermal vent (Gammaropsis (Podoceropsis) grasslei). She worked as a forensic geneticist and chemist in Mexico City
